I’m a child of the moon and stars and winter. I tend to leave my heart in places that aren’t real, and in the hands of people who only exist in words. So, world-weary and heavy-hearted as I am, it seems I’ve left my roots in my childhood (and the fields of Brambly Hedge). Right now I’ve got detective schoolgirls running all through my head, solving mysteries I haven’t thought of yet with muddy knees and ribbons in their hair.

(And do you ever feel lost at sea while still on land?) I love Christmases, but not birthdays. I want to visit Iceland. I like British, Irish, and French architecture. I think I want to live on the Welsh coast, though I think I’d freeze to death. Wales is an interesting little place, you know. Much invaded, it’s a little mixed bag of Britain and Ireland, yet still standing on it’s own two feet. It’s strong. And sort of brave. If a landmass can be brave. I like it. Makes me feel safe. Right now I’m stuck in a city I’m not entirely fond of, but I’m trying to make the most of it. I like the air just before it rains, and I like it when it rains. I get cranky and frustrated when it’s too hot. Remus Lupin was right about the chocolate. Some days are just dementors (do you ever get that?) and only chocolate will do. I like days when the breeze blows softly while you’re reading, and you look up and there’s exactly the right amount of sun and clouds and sky and you think, “everything is going to turn out just fine.”
